Excalibur Pot

Cave details

Length:
2.5 km
Vertical range:
< 60 m
Region:
North York

The first, and currently only, major cave in the North York Moors. Short pitches drop to a large chamber, followed by an extensive inlet series, and a large main streamway. Several areas have admirable formations. A second major cave, Jenga Pot, was discovered in the same area, with similar characteristics, but this was then connected to Excalibur Pot, creating a longer system, and returning Excalibur Pot to its status as the only major cave in the area. Discovered in late 2007, the cave is still being actively explored. General access is permitted, controlled by the York Caving Club.
